Matt was raised in Libby, Montana. He attended the University of Montana, graduating with a degree in Political Science in 1993. Matt graduated from the University of Montana School of Law in 1996. As an undergraduate he was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society.
Matt joined Worden Thane P.C. in January of 1996 as in intern during his third year of law school and as an associate in the fall of 1996. From 2001-2004 Matt left the firm to focus on trial work. Matt's practice has centered around all aspects of civil litigation, representing employers in labor and employment matters, both plaintiffs and defendants with insurance law, real estate, landlord tenant issues, personal injury, and commercial litigation. Matt is also a graduate of the International Defense Counsel Trial Academy, class of 2003. In 2007 Matt became a partner in the firm.
Matt is the former President of the Missoula Mavericks Baseball program, and has served as a director of the Camp Fire Boys and Girls program. Matt enjoys trap shooting, fly fishing and coaching wrestling, baseball and softball.
